BEHIND THE CAMERA

BEHIND THE CAMERA

You may know me as just a photographer, videographer, artist etc. or not know me at all, but I promise there's a story on how I got here. Let me first introduce myself, my name is Kailey Barnes, a 22 year old woman, born and raised, in Cumming, Georgia, and I am now located in Nashville, Tennessee, with the occasional and purposeful hometown pop in for my forever clients and family. I travel all over but mainly my business dominates the south east hemisphere. I am a travel junkie, I love the outdoors and plan to one day renovate a van into a mobile home so I can work and live anywhere at anytime but also just for the experience and to see the world God made. Yes, being an artist and solely relying on that as "income" is hard for many people to understand, and it comes with it’s challenges, I do admit. My dad would always say, “Well, what’s your backup plan?”, I always told him there isn’t one. I never had a Plan B, I never wanted one. To me Plan B means Plan A, could fail, but I feel if you have one plan and one thing you are passionate about, it won't ever fail. 100% of you is focused on that Plan A, and there is no energy going into a plan B. I will always live by that. My love for photography and videography began when I was super young, I lived for disposable cameras, especially under water ones haha! I always picked up our "family cameras" and took pictures of EVERYTHING and recorded EVERYTHING and the rest is history. I won't sit here and preach about certificates and schooling to make me sound more qualified because I think my drive and purpose brought me here. I taught myself almost everything to start through youtube, assisting professionals, and encounters along the way. In highschool I was grinding and thinking how I could pull this off. I even made flyers my sophomore-junior year and handed them out just so my highschool would have enough students to start a photography class. At that point, it was my senior year that Photo 1 was created. I had learned most of what was taught beforehand, but I do not regret it one bit. I got experience with film and the dark room, which possibly would have never happened on my own. That class helped me evolve and make genuine friends for the first time in highschool that I still talk to today, it even helped become a person for others to learn from. By the age of 17 I had my first paid shoot, and what started as "KABJ Photos", unconsciously created a new narrative for me to get here, "Stella Vision". When passion is there, the drive can make or break your journey and I never stopped learning, even today. I think my passion of the arts grew into something bigger than just me taking photos, it became my way of spreading love and positivity through the moments I captured for all of you. It was an oppurtunity to connect with others and create physical priceless memories that otherwise could've be forgotten. I make sure to capture EVERYTHING, just as I did when I was younger. Even though that ONE shot is what you hired me for, most of my clients give feedback about a new favorite every single time. I believe every moment captured, big or small, can tell a story for a lifetime. I am thankful for those who have supported me in this journey, because you have given me a feeling of personal success over everything. I hope to keep pushing forward, learning new things, and capturing life itself until my hands give out. I can't wait to see the oppurtunites 2022 has in store for all of us and see some familiar and new faces along the way!

No Plan B’s. Do what you love. -K
